Days 38 and 39 - Just Hanging Out

Yesterday was a bit of a slow one with rain pouring from the sky ALL DAY. Therese and I stayed in our pajamas all morning, reading the reviews of the sixth Harry Potter movie (which I am still pining to see) and catching up on our tv shows. Therese really has a thing for Stephen Colbert. I prefer the Daily Show, but every time I turn it on, Reese insists that we watch Colbert. As soon as the first notes of the theme music come on, she cheers, claps, and jumps up and down. When the eagle is shown (for those who watch the show), she stops jumping and claps for Colbert. She'll watch almost an entire show, laughing when the audience (or her mommy) laughs.

The weather cleared up early enough, however, for students at the CDC to throw a party on our street. It was a going away party for two people (who aren't leaving until next week...) and about half of the school showed up. The vast majority of students here are in high school or early undergrad and the legal drinking age in Germany (for beer at least) is 16, the combination of which makes for some big parties. All of these students were gathered in the street, having a good time, and making a LOT of noise, so I was a little worried when we went to bed that we (particularly Therese) would have trouble sleeping. As soon as we shut our bedroom door, the noise was gone. Our room is in the back of building away from the street, but still, I was amazed by how quiet it was.

Today we woke up (very early thanks to Therese) to beautiful weather. Even better than the weather, however, was seeing how clear Reese's skin looked. We've had her clothes professionally laundered, lubed her up with layers of lotion, and given her an appropriate amount of Benadryl. It finally seems to be paying off. With her skin and the weather doing so well, Therese and I ventured out bright and early to Cafe Tiramisu, a cafe in the Marktplatz that has a little wooden turtle on a spring that Therese LOVES to play on. We split a hot chocolate, tiramisu, and sat lazily at a table people watching, taking pictures, and riding the turtle. We then went to our two favorite parks to make us of the swings and the slide before meeting up with Todd and eating lunch. The rest of the day has been devoted to preparing for our big trip this weekend. Tomorrow (Friday) morning we are leaving bright and early in order to spend a three day weekend (inlcuding our 5 year anniversary) in Munich! I'm really excited for this trip. I've been reading about Munich for weeks now and am ready for some old-fashioned Bavarian fun. First on the list tomorrow: lunch at Hofbrauhaus. I can't wait.
