Day 26 - Back to Normal

Friday we went right back into our old schedule. Well, sort of. Therese, exhausted from her week full of fun, slept in until 9:30. We went down to Todd's school to meet him for lunch. We ate at Bufee, one of the local places where you can get cheap Italian and Turkish food. It looked like it was going to rain (and thanks to the wind felt like it too) so we sat inside which turned out to be a mistake. Now we love Bufee and will continue to go there, but it was really hot inside and there were so many flies that would not leave us alone that it was hard to enjoy our dining experience (my pasta bake was still amazing, but man was I sweating after sitting in the heat eating a hot meal...).

After lunch we went back to our place so Therese could take a nap. We ended up having family nap time - each of us sleeping for about two hours. I guess we were still recovering from the busy week. Todd and I cooked a simple spaghetti dinner, put Reese to bed for the night, and watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which we had rented off of iTunes. Nothing like a light-hearted, romantic comedy after an exhausting week. After watching the movie, which Todd called "haunting," we went to bed sufficiently depressed. Don't worry- Saturday night we rented a chick-flick.

  1. Lauren, Dad and Jan are safely in Italy. I had heard from him his whole trip until Sunday afternoon. We were driving home from the wedding and Chicago when he called my cell to tell me they were drinking some good white wine in Cinque Terre. It sounds like you are a little tired out and maybe missing home, but hang in there. We are SO JEALOUS of the summer you are having. I remember feeling warn down from all the walking and especially the oppressive heat during my trip to Europe, but you'll catch a cooler day soon and rejuvenate - it always happens somehow. Plus, before long, you'll be in Ireland and won't believe how cool and refreshing (and rainy!) it is. It will feel even more refreshing after going through so much heat!
